We must ask God to give us eyes to see. 'It's a great grace to be allowed to see', says the poet, and this is true. The will of God may be revealed in everything around us, but we do not see it because our eyes are held down. They are held down by weakness, sloth, cowardice, and self-seeking. They can be opened only from within, from that innermost ground accesible to God alone.
